Why No Responses from Forums and Web Forms Minimize

Notice Regarding Communication Breakdown
On Oct 27, 2008 one of our users brought to our attention that the forums were not being tended to.
Here's an explanation of what happened.   Somewhere around the August timeframe, we stopped receiving email notifications from web forms and the forums when new posts were made.   Since the majority of all support requests come to us directly through emails to support@gulf-technology.com or through Snowcovered and the DNN Marketplace, we only check in on the forums when those notifications instructed us a post was made.   Since the forums are so low-use, we haven't made an effort to keep track of them and should have noticed the lack of notifications and to that end, please accept our apologies.

Ironic that as a result of trying to provide a number of flexible communication methods for making requests in order to keep up quality of service, one of those communication methods failed completely when our DNN portal stopped relaying messages through our web host's SMTP server.

We've since moved the email system to use gmail's SMTP server and will commence testing it as a more viable solution over the next few days as we work through this backlog of requests.

Just to be clear, support and further development of our modules has been and will continue for the foreseeable future.  In fact, we have a number of exciting features coming very soon. We've continued to support and provide upgrades for all existing customers and will continue to do so.

Confused

I'm using file version 04.35.00 for Nuke FileTransfer. I have the module on a page that only a specific role can see. I would like any user of that role to be able to log in, upload a file and it be available to everyone else in that same role. I have tried everything and can't seem to get this to work. I would rather not have to 'require' eveyone that uploads a file to have to click 'share' then select the roles to share with. Is this possible?

Also, you have the avility to save files in either the database or file system. If I am on a shared web hosting plan how do I figure out what needs to go into the linking text area to link to a folder within the DNN file manager.... I assume it needs to be" /portals/0/FolderName..... " etc is this correct?

Any help with this would be great. Thanks.

Re: Confused

Mike,

Sorry for the delayed reply.   As I mentioned before we haven't been getting notifications about posts to this forum and it goes many months without receiving a post, usually so we don't make a point to check it frequently.

To your first question.    That's not really what Nuketransfer does, at least not right now.  Every user has a dashboard of files and can choose to share or send links to those files but by default, only that user sees their files.    Certainly this is an area that new features can be applied.  How would you envision this working in a case where a person has multiple roles?  So If I'm an administrator and a user,  I would see all other administrator and user roles's files as well if that module  option would checked?

Or would you see this as being an extension of the existing file sharing options where you can click share a file and pick a list of additional files to share to the specified roles?

Just curious what you have in your mind for the user experience.

On the path. Use the full disk path to be safe.  This can be found, even under a hosted environment, under host->host settings along the top section as "Physical Path"

Feel free to email us at support@gulf-technology.com for faster support.  Those go to our phones as well as the snowcovered notifications.

Best Wishes,

Bill Dodd
